Infrastructure as code with Terraform instead
HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Authoring and Operations Professional tests advanced, lab-based infrastructure as code work, a different automation tool aimed at engineers who provision and run infrastructure.
Who it suits
Suits infrastructure, platform or DevOps engineers who already automate with Ansible, or who work in cloud-heavy teams, and want to prove production-grade Terraform skills.
Key differences
- It targets declarative provisioning of cloud and platform resources, while Ansible work is mostly about configuring and orchestrating systems after they exist.
- Like the Red Hat exam it is assessed through practical lab work, so both reward doing rather than recalling, but in different toolchains.
- It has no Linux administration prerequisite chain, in contrast to the Red Hat route that builds on a system administrator credential first.
